William Walker Wilson, 81, passed away on April 5, 2015, at Transylvania Regional Hospital after a period of declining health. He was born in Barker Heights in Henderson County, to the late William Walker McGraw and Ada Elizabeth McGraw. He was also preceded in death by his adoptive parents Robert Elliot and Lois Blythe Wilson; brothers and sisters Grady F. McGraw, Ruth Capps, Henry McGraw, Irene Edwards, Opal Staton and Anne Smith, and his former wife and mother of his children Nancy McCrary Wilson Holden.
A Veteran of the US Army, he served during the Korean War before returning to Henderson County and later to Brevard. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Brevard.
He is survived by his sister, Helen Porter of Hendersonville; his children William F. "Billy" Wilson and wife Kathy of Brevard, Sarah Ann Wilson of Brevard, Tracey Creamer and husband Steve of Brevard; two granddaughters Tessa Wilson and Taylor Creamer, both of Brevard; a number of nieces and nephews; and a great and loving friend and step-father to his children, Charles Holden.
A Memorial Service for William Wilson will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Grace Baptist Church with Rev. Shane Duncan officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 to 12:00, one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Baptist Youth Mission Fund, 10 W. Holden Road, Brevard, NC 28712.
