Brevard - Alvin Freeman Moore, 83, died Sunday, May 3, 2009 at the Oaks of Brevard.
A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Charlie Daniel Moore and Nettie Galloway Moore. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Ola Masters Moore and his second wife, Edna Totherow Moore, his brothers, Arthur, Ernest , Alfred Louis, and J.C. Moore, and his sisters, Shirley Galloway and Ruby Thompson.
Mr. Moore was a veteran of the US Navy, serving during WW II, and he worked at the Celanese plant in Rock Hill, SC for 41 years.
Surviving are his daughter, Brenda M. Adcock and husband Alex of Brevard; son, Wayne Moore and family of Rock Hill, SC; step daughters, Lynn Tollison and husband Ron and Sarah Pitts and husband Mike all of Ft. Mill; brother, Danny Moore of Pisgah Forest; sister, Grace Ogburn of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Robin Keller and husband Dan of Charlotte, NC, Ashley Moore and Jarred Moore both of Rock Hill; step grandchildren, Angie Reiking and Matt Tollison; great-grandchildren, Richard and Brandon Keller; special niece, Kelly Snipes.
The funeral service will be held at 2 pm Wednesday in the Moore Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Allen Thompson and Lee Ray Green officiating. Burial will be in Connestee Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm until 2 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
